Short stories
As well as full-length fiction and non-fiction I write short stories for anthologies, usually with contemporary settings and a strong sense of place. See the full list of my short stories.
Historical Guides
Writing historical guides and narrative accounts allows me to combine my love of social history, people and places, with the chance to dive into the archives. My latest guidebook, written for National Trust Books, is here. I’m always happy to discuss historical projects involving writing or speaking/presenting, or both. If you’re a History publisher or events organiser looking to commission an author or speaker, please see my Contact page.
Books for English as a Foreign Language (EFL) Learners – graded readers
I draw on my professional background in ELT and write ELT Graded Readers. These are original, pacy stories of 10-20,000 words for Young Adult and Adult learners of EFL – a bit like the Quick Reads series.
See my list of graded readers which were commissioned by National Geographic/Cengage Learning for their Page Turners fiction series. If you’re an ELT publisher looking to commission original language learner fiction, please get in touch through my Contact page.
